19 Jul 2010 11:08

Dear customer,

You may have noticed that our retention for the binary newsgroups has increased rapidly in recent weeks. On Wednesday 30 June 2010, for instance, we notified you that our retention had reached 300 days and that it will continue to grow. At the moment of this writing, actual retention for the binary newsgroups has reached 317 days.

It is not only our retention for the binary newsgroups which is rising. We are proud to be able to tell you that our retention for the text newsgroups has now reached an impressive 4 years. Every text article posted in a text group over the past four years can still be retrieved using our services. If you are curious as to which text newsgroups are most active, we invite you to have a look at our Usenet Statistics which includes an analysis of yesterday’s text newsfeed specifying an article count by newsgroup listing.

News-Service.com is a tier-1 Usenet Provider operating its own hardware and its own network allowing us to offer unlimited speeds, 100% uptime and an unparalleled completion regardless of the age of the articles.

Actual retention details can always be found on our website: http://www.news-service.com/retention.

Developments related to Brein lawsuit

07 Jul 2010 13:45

Dear customer,

We would like to inform you about the latest developments related to the legal procedures brought against News-Service.com by Stichting Brein.

On Tuesday 18 May 2010 we notified you of the Court's decision to give both parties the opportunity to submit a reply (“repliek”) and rejoinder (“dupliek”) prior to the next judgement being passed. Brein was expected to reply on 23 June 2010 and News-Service.com then had to issue a rejoinder on 4 August 2010.

However Brein recently contacted us to request more time for submitting its reply. News-Service.com decided to honor this request. Brein will now reply on 4 August 2010 and News-Service.com will issue a rejoinder on 27 October 2010.

Naturally we will keep you updated on any further developments. Should you have any questions or wish to share your views on this issue with us, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

With best wishes,
